“5th September” connects every student with one precious feeling. Thankfulness to our teachers. Thus, every year in India, we celebrate 5th September as Teacher’s day to honor our beloved mentors, and gurus.

Why 5th Sep Is Known  As Teacher’s Day?

In India, this day was started to get celebrating since 1962 on the birthday of the greatest teacher, philosopher, politician, and educationist – Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan was born on 5th September 1988. He was the 1st Vice-President and 2nd President of India.

He ascended to the position of President of India in the year 1962. That year, his students and friends visited him and asked for permission to celebrate his birthday on a big note on 5th September. Sir Radhakrishnan replied, “I would be proud and feel privileged if 5th September is observed as this day instead of my birthday”. His wish came true and since 1962, 5th September has been celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India.

One more thing to add, Sir Radhakrishnan was nominated for Nobel Prize in Literature 16 times, and for Nobel Prize in Peace 11 times.

Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.

International Teacher’s Day

We, Indians mark and celebrate 5th September as this day. Though, World on this day is celebrated on 5th October with a grant via UNESCO since 1994.
