Another myth says that St. Ubaiddullah(r) discovered the island in his voyage to spread Islam which was summoned by the Prophet Mohammad(s). St. Ubaidullah(r) had breathed his last breath at Andrott. His grave is considered a sacred place to date.

Thereon, the Portuguese tried to invade these islands to loot coir. However, they were prevented by the inhabitants of the islands. Next, many other dynasties including Chirakkal, Arakkal, and the British East India Company tried to take these islands into possession one after another. Lastly, after independence, in 1956, the islands were formed in a Union Territory of India, and in 1973, it became the Lakshadweep.
